SUMMARY:Doors Open Minneapolis
DESCRIPTION:Doors Open events are free public celebrations that invite people to explore the buildings\, spaces\, and stories that shape a city’s identity.  During Doors Open venues of architectural\, cultural\, civic\, and social significance open their doors to the public—many offering behind-the-scenes access not typically available. From historic landmarks to cutting-edge workspaces\, sacred spaces to industrial sites\, these programs are designed to spark curiosity and deepen connection between people and place. \nThere are two North Loop venues in this year’s Doors Open: \nThe Federal Reserve Bank \nEver wonder what $4.6 million in cash looks like? Visit the most popular Doors Open venue to find out! While you’re here\, have a seat on $1.7 million in shredded money\, discover where the money in your wallet comes from and how it gets to you\, uncover the security features on your bills\, and more. Visitors must pass through a metal detector and have personal belongings X-rayed. Weapons are prohibited. \nThe North Loop Garage \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe North Loop Garage is Metro Transit’s newest bus garage and opened in March of 2023. The 350\,000-square-foot facility can store up to 200 buses and includes 24 maintenance bays. In the future\, the garage will include electric bus charging equipment\, powered in part by rooftop solar panels. \nIn addition to bus maintenance and storage\, the garage has several features for employees\, including a workout area\, an outdoor patio\, break rooms\, covered parking\, and a secure bike storage area. The garage also has several sustainable features\, including a 40\,000-gallon rainwater storage tank\, a geothermal heating/cooling system\, thermal wall paneling\, and LED lighting.  Come enjoy a tour through the eyes of a bus operator and end with a bus ride around the garage!

SUMMARY:Open Loop 2026: Juror's Talk & Closing Reception
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Dates: April 2 through May 9\, 2026\n(Thursdays\, Fridays\, Saturdays 12:00 – 6:00 pm) \nOpening Reception: April 4\, 4-7 pm \nJuror’s Talk and Closing Reception: May 9\, 4-6 pm \nForm+Content Gallery is pleased to present the Second Biennial Open Loop\, an open call group exhibition juried by Kylie Linh Hoang\, and featuring compelling work from 32 Minnesota based artists. The gallery views this year’s exhibition as a reaffirmation that the act of making art speaks to hope and to life itself even in uncertain times. \n\n“Open Loop 2026 emphasizes themes which emerged from the submissions that evolved around memory\, identity\, and migration. The exhibition will examine current events\, personal histories\, and our collective investment in fighting for the future we want to see.” — Kylie Linh Hoang \n\nWe are truly impressed by the scope and quality of the submissions received from across Minnesota and thank the nearly 160 artists who submitted their work for Open Loop 2026. It is clear that there is an incredible depth of creativity and dedication\, and we are grateful for this collective community of artists. \nAruna Rangarajan\, Attila Dabasi\, Braeden Baston\, Dan Petrov\, Duddley Diaz\, Emma Hendrickson\, Erik Farseth\, Genie Hien Tran\, Graciela DeAnda\, Grover Hogan\, Hakeem Martins\, Heidi Heather\, Hilary Greenstein\, Isaiah Okongo\, Jane Meyer\, Kaitlin Wilfing\, Karla Rydrych\, Leeya Rose Jackson\, Lindsy Halleckson\, Maria Santiago\, Mark Cosimini\, Martha McQuade\, Mary Griep\, Miranda Harincar\, Nima Desai\, Rebecca Pavlenko\, Shun Yong\, Therese Zemlin\, Victoria Kosel\, Vincent DeZutti\, Zamara Cuyun\, Zoran Mojsilov \nABOUT THE JUROR \nKYLIE LINH HOANG (she/her) is a curator and public historian who believes a deep understanding of our past can lead us forward to a more vibrant future. She also believes that museums are some of the most visceral places where history can be learned\, and that they have the unique opportunity to promote social equity and restorative justice through exhibitions and programming. Kylie centers accessibility\, accountability\, and anti-colonial strategies in her museum work to create opportunities to engage that are meaningful and culturally relevant. \nKylie has worked as an assistant curator at the Minnesota Museum of American Art\, researching the complexity of American identity and experience through objects in the permanent collection.
