SUMMARY:Northside Assembly: Ward 5
DESCRIPTION:Community and stakeholders\, \nI’m reaching out to ask for your help in making sure our first community meeting is earnestly for the community. Six months ago I took office as the Minneapolis Ward 5 City Council Member and I’ve been fighting for the Northside since day one. I’ve been learning City Hall these early days in office\, and finding ways to make our visions real\, but any insights gathered must be paired with community voice and vision. \nOn Tuesday\, June 26th\, 5-7:45pm at UROC (Urban Research and Outreach-Engagement Center) (2001 Plymouth Ave N)\, I’ll be looking to gather with ward 5 residents and stakeholders for our first Northside Assembly: Ward 5. \nThe Assembly is my version of a town hall. It leans on the collective wisdom of the room (the community) to help craft specific policies and programs I can then pursue back at City Hall. It will put the power of governance directly in the hands of the community I love and represent. And while the 26th will be our first\, these meetings will be regular—quarterly. This won’t be some one-and-done meeting. \nWith your help\, I’m looking to get as many Northsiders in the room as possible. Each one of you has deep roots and/or connections to the Northside\, and I’m hoping you’ll be willing to share the details of the Assembly with your networks\, especially your Northside networks. You can either share our Facebook event (here)\, or distribute our flyer (attached)\, or invite people in your own words. \nAt minimum\, people should know: \n5:00 PM – Come eat! \n5:30 PM – We’ll get started! \n7:45 PM – We’ll get you home! \nFood and childcare will be provided. \nIf people (or you) have questions or accessibility needs\, call 612-673-2205 or email ward5@minneapolismn.gov. \nFacebook event: facebook.com/events/191257808189240/ \nThank you so much for helping us spread the word. I look forward to seeing you and your folks on the 26th. \nBest\, \nJeremiah Ellison\nCity Council Member \nCity of Minneapolis – Ward 5 \n350 S. Fifth St. – Room 307\nMinneapolis\, MN 55415\nOffice: 612-673-2205\nJeremiah.Ellison@minneapolismn.gov\nWard 5 Newsletter sign-up \n

SUMMARY:Project Gallery - Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction Project
DESCRIPTION:Please stop by Thursday\, June 28 for a gallery-style viewing of the Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction Project proposed roadway layout and vision for streetscape enhancements. \nThe City of Minneapolis is designing the reconstruction of Hennepin Avenue between 12th Street and Washington Avenue. We are excited to show the results of months of public input\, stakeholder coordination\, and technical analysis on the project. The project will be presented to the Transportation and Public Works Committee and City Council in July 2018\, but we want YOU to have a first look. \nStop by for a gallery-style viewing to see how public comment has influenced the proposed roadway layout and vision for streetscape enhancements. City Council approval of the layout in July will set the curb lines and be the base for further design refinement in coming months. The proposed vision for streetscape enhancements sets the stage for continued discussion with property owners to determine the level of investment. See what your input has helped create! \nWHERE:\nHennepin Theatre Trust\n900 Hennepin Ave.\nMinneapolis\, MN 55403 \nWHEN:\nThursday\, June 28\nAnytime between noon and 5 p.m. \nFOR QUESTIONS:\nConstruction details including timing and potential closures are not known at this time\, but that information will be available by the end of the year. \nVisit the project website at www.hennepindowntown.com (gallery materials will be postedFriday 6/29)\nContact the project at Hennepin.downtown@minneapolismn.gov\nOr call 844-887-8330
