Through a community-centered approach\, the committee works closely with city and local partners to connect the North Loop neighborhood residents and businesses to current and upcoming public space developments through discussion\, engagement\, and volunteerism. \nMeetings are held from 6-7:30pm on the 2nd Wednesday of the month. \nLocation: TractorWorks’ Washington Gallery at 800 N Washington Avenue. \nOur many thanks to TractorWorks for providing this meeting space to NLNA for our monthly Parks+Placemaking meetings. \n \n\n\n\n\nGoogle Meet Link Available For Remote Participation \n\n\n\n\n\nAll meetings of the board and any committees are open to any Member of the board\, and to all general Members. \n\n“Please note that the TractorWorks building is accessible without a building fob until 6 PM on weekdays\, and we encourage attendees to arrive before this time as they are able. For those arriving after 6 PM who will require assistance\, please call our 24/7 security at 612-910-9439 and they will be happy to let you into the building if you mention you have arrived for the NLNA meeting. Parking at the attached garage is available at hourly rates (payable by credit card) and can be accessed from 10th Avenue. Access to the building via the parking garage is available on the 2nd level of the garage through the attached skyway\, which features the same hours as the street-level entrances.”

SUMMARY:North Loop Service Saturdays 2023
DESCRIPTION:Service Saturdays take place from spring through fall in the North Loop. Service Saturdays include picking up trash from around the neighborhood\, working to enhance our beautiful park and playground along the river\, as well as other special activities each month. \nWe are so fortunate to have a committed crew of volunteers to help us maintain the beauty and cleanliness of our neighborhood! \nService Saturdays are held on the second Saturday of each month\, from April through November (or when the snow flies). \nThe day starts with gathering at 9:30am at Corner Coffee at 514 N 3rd Street\, where volunteers are provided with bags and gloves\, and spend an hour or so picking up trash around the neighborhood. This makes a huge difference as we all work to keeping the North Loop a clean\, litter-free zone! \nStarting at 10am\, another volunteer group gathers at James Rice Park to begin their efforts of the day to continue working to beautify the park and playground area\, continuing to remove invasive plants\, planting trees\, shrubs and perennial plants\, and much more. \nIn addition\, special neighborhood activities and events are secheduled for Service Saturdays throughout the season. \nHere’s the schedule for the season ahead: \nJune 10 \n\nTrash Pick-up – Corner Coffee 9:30am\nFlower Gardens and Playground (Mulch Day) MPRB supported event at 4th Avenue Playground – 10am\n\nJuly 8 \n\nTrash Pick-up – Corner Coffee 9:30am\nTree Care – mulch and water new trees at James Rice Park (Central/North Riverbanks) – 10am\n\nAugust 12 \n\nTrash Pick-up – Corner Coffee 9:30am\nInvasive Removal – Buckthorn\, Burdock\, Vines – at James Rice Park – 10am\n\nSeptember 9 \n\nTrash Pick-up – Corner Coffee 9:30am\nPlant Trees – FMR supported event at James Rice Park North Riverbank – 10am\nBack-to-School Supplies Donation Drive (James Rice Park Drop-off)\n\nOctober 14 \n\nTrash Pick-up – Corner Coffee 9:30am\nJames Rice Park – Planting 300 Wild Tulip bulbs (MPRB providing free\, plus the tools to plant them); also general fall maintenance – 4th Avenue Playground – 10am\n\nNovember 10 \n\nTrash Pick-up – Corner Coffee 9:30am\nGrass Seeding and Winter Prep – FMR Supported event – James Rice Park North Riverbank – 10am\n\n \n \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Service Saturday: James Rice Park Winter Park Prep
DESCRIPTION:The November plan is Winter Park Prep which means late-season invasive removal and final mulching\, watering of the 200 trees standing on either side of Basset Creek! We will divide up tasks depending on how many people show up. \nHere’s what’s on the schedule for the day: \n\nGarbage collection along the riverbank. This is the main activity promoted through NLNA.\nPre-winter tree maintenance. Making sure all 200 new trees have adequate mulch and water.\nLate-season invasive removal – especially Buckthorn\, which stands out in November. We provide saws and loppers!\n\nFor the record\, this is the final Tree Count going into winter with color codes for easy identification. \n \n  \n
