SUMMARY:Community Workshops: Data Center+Multi-Use Project
DESCRIPTION:The NLNA is partnering with the Minnesota Design Center (MDC) to host three initial community workshops seeking input on the proposed data center + multi-use development for the former Star Tribune building and surrounding acres.  \nThe MDC is a research\, teaching and outreach institution housed in the University of Minnesota’s College of Design. MDC specializes in studying and designing development opportunities that lie in the “social\, technological\, environmental and economic disruptions of our time.” A list of past MDC projects can be found here.  \nThe workshops will be facilitated by urban planners\, architects\, designers\, landscape architects\, as well as students and support staff. Facilitators with this expertise have the ability to organize community input into a report for residents\, stakeholders and the developers of the site\, who have indicated their interest in MDC’s findings\, especially as it concerns the multi-use portion of their proposal. This will be the first series of workshops organized by the MDC over the following year.  \nThose wishing to attend and offer input do not need to attend all three workshops\, but are welcome to do so. Riverfront volunteers meet at 10 am at the playground (4th Ave. and West River Parkway) to plant new trees. Tools\, gloves and water are provided. Time commitment: About 90 minutes.
