SUMMARY:TRAFFIC ZONE : SEAN SMUDA:  UNIVERSAL CAPITAL
DESCRIPTION:December 9\, 2016  – January 20\, 2017\nMonday – Friday\, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and by appointment \nTraffic Zone Gallery presents Sean Smuda: Universal Capital\, a multilayered glossary of economic and social transformations. Linking #BLM\, austerity governance and the Commodity Fetish to their colonialist roots\, the work challenges the authority of historical cartography and contemporary statistics. Its appropriations\, collage and performances reconfigure territories\, symbology and propaganda. Universal Capital puts the value of art itself in question as prints are employed in protest zones\, galleries and other seats of power. \nSean Smuda is an artist\, curator\, photographer and writer living in Minneapolis\, Minnesota. He works in a variety of mediums including collage\, video\, and performance. Recent projects have taken place in Iraq\, on Wall Street\, and at the Minnesota State Capitol. His work is in the permanent collection of the Walker Art Center.

SUMMARY:Winterfest on 2nd Street South
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, December 10: Winterfest on Second Street!\nSUNDAY\, DECEMBER 4\, 2016 | CLAUDIA KITTOCK | Mill City Times\n\nSaturday\, December 10 will be the first ever Winterfest on Second Street S\, 11:00am-1:00pm\, sponsored by the Friends of the Mill District. We are a small\, neighborhood charity and our mission is to build community in the Mill District by connecting\, convening\, and supporting our neighbors. People Serving Peopleis always in need of diapers\, and any size is welcome.  YouthLink needs hats\, mittens and scarves\, as well as any type of outerwear for youth ages 16-24. Donations of money or gift cards can also be dropped off. \nIf you love to sing\, join the Friends of the Mill District Singers who will be caroling during the Winterfest. We will begin at the Guthrie\, and will sing at various locations along 2nd Street. Join us! All are welcome! You don’t have to be a member of the Singers to join us. We just want to sing together. \nClaudia can be reached at claudia@millcitymedia.org

This show covers many related issues including foster care\, veteran homelessness\, shelter systems\, addiction and 6 Simple Steps to Living in Your Car. With humor\, drama and a song and dance or two\, The Reality Roadshow challenges the notion that\, in this richest of nations\, we must compete for the resources we need to survive. \nACKNOWLEDGEMENTS\nThis activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council\, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
