SUMMARY:Inbound Brewco Instameet
DESCRIPTION:We’re happy to announce our latest instameet collaboration with MNCommunity! \nCome tour the North Loop’s newest tap room\, Inbound Brewco\, and try a few pints! \nThe inviting\, open-concept warehouse space was built in 1958 and was formerly a recycling facillity for old appliances. Founders Jon Messier and Eric Biermann repurposed the building for their brewing operation’s first taproom and officially opened in April 2016. \nWe’ll be catching the tail end of happy hour (it ends at 6:00) but there will also be samples provided during the tour. \nSee you there! \nHashtag: #MNComm_InBound \nFor more about InBound check out their website: https://https://inboundbrew.co/.

SUMMARY:Riverfront Vitality Forum
DESCRIPTION:NEWS RELEASE\nMay 16\, 2016\nMedia Contact Kathleen Boe\ne / kathleen.boe@minneapolisriverfront.org\np / 612.746.4987\nReturn to a more natural river? River ecology after the lock \nJoin us for the next Riverfront Vitality Forum: 6 pm to 7:30 pm\, May 26\, 2016 at the Mill City Museum\nMinneapolis\, Minn. – Nearly a year ago\, in an unusual move\, the lock at Upper Saint Anthony Falls was closed to boat and barge traffic. The closure was the result of an act of Congress\, designed\, in part\, to slow the spread of invasive carp up the Mississippi River in Minneapolis\, to rivers and lakes beyond.\nInevitably\, the closure and the end of dredging the area for a shipping channel is having an impact on the area’s ecology. What is the impact on the shape of the river bottom? How are invertebrates and mussels impacted? What is the impact on water chemistry? \nThe Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership\, the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization and the St. Anthony Falls Lab and River Life Program at the University of Minnesota have partnered to delve into these questions. \nJoin us\, along with a panel of experts to discuss the kinds of impact we may see on our river environment: \n\nMike Davis\, River Ecologist for the Minnesota DNR\nCarrie Jennings\, Director of Research and Planning Director for the Freshwater Society\nJane Mazack\, Ph.D. candidate in Water Resources Science at the University of Minnesota\nAlan Robbins-Fenger\, Chief of Resource Management for the National Park Service\, Mississippi National River and Recreation Area\nScott Vreeland\, Vice President of the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and longtime river advocate\n\nThe Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership is a state-chartered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that facilitates and supports coordinated revitalization of the Mississippi Riverfront in the City of Minneapolis. MRP brings diverse community partners together to shape a vital role for the Mississippi River in enhancing the economic\, social and natural life of the City of Minneapolis and to ensure that this development benefits all segments of the community. \nFor more information\, visit https://www.minneapolisriverfront.org/\n###

SUMMARY:Northern Spark 2016
DESCRIPTION:As a response to the intense global conversations on climate change now taking place in Paris at the COP21 talks\, and around the world\, we ask an important question: what is the role of art and culture in what some have called Year One of the climate revolution? \nTo explore this question\, Northern Lights.mn announces a full year of artists addressing global climate change: Northern Spark 2016\, June 11\, through Northern Spark 2017\, June 10. These two incredible nights of art focused on Earth’s changing environment will be connected by a year of interactive projects\, events and workshops exploring climate challenges and solutions in sites across the Twin Cities. \nNorthern Spark 2016 and Northern Spark 2017 are an urgent\, exciting\, artistic call-and-response to global climate change. Our year of climate change programming begins by delving into issues such as the future of food\, new relationships to non-human species\, and radical river ecologies\, and culminates in 2017 in the biggest Northern Spark yet\, with innovative\, interactive art projects filling the landscape along the Green Line from Minneapolis to St. Paul. \nWith a year-long commitment to focus on climate change\, Northern Lights.mn brings excitement\, inspiration and creativity to an issue that can at times feel impossible to solve. Our work has always been to bring people together to experience awe-inspiring art projects. With climate change as our focus\, we’re working to knit together project collaborations between artists\, activists\, scientists\, neighborhoods and environmental organizations that will last beyond Northern Spark’s 8 hours. And we’re bringing artists’ voices and visions for climate change solutions into public space\, where we can all benefit from the new ideas and energy they can give us.
