SUMMARY:Permutations at Form+Content Gallery
DESCRIPTION:Permutations: Print works by Beth Dorsey\, Gwen Partin\, Ingrid Restemayer\, Patty Scott\, and Dean Trisko \n \nForm+Content Gallery and five printmakers from the Northrup King Building present an exhibit of hand-pulled prints\nand mixed media artworks. \nExhibiting Artists\nBeth Dorsey\nGwen Partin\nIngrid Restemayer\nPatty Scott\nDean Trisko \nThese five printmakers are all seasoned artists\, knowledgeable in print processes as well as other fine art mediums. They have all shared the same studio building for many years\, yet only recently came together to share resources and to learn each others varied uses of printmaking. All are currently using printmaking as a mode of furthering their creative voices. \nBeth Dorsey is attracted to everyday objects with repeatable patterns. Venetian blinds\, windows\, and corrugated material in photogravure prints form the foundation of her imagery. Dorsey uses the ability to repeat an image to build singular compositions. Then through experimentation\, she adds layers\, sometime plaiting them to change and increase complexity and interest. \nGwen Partin works in drawing\, printmaking and book arts. Her focus comes from geometric and natural shapes and textures as well as from textiles with their systems of woven\, tiled or tessellated patterns. Partin prints in monotype\, with cut paper stencils\, relief blocks and collagraphs making a lexicon of parts that get collaged back together. Her textural 2-d works embody a unique balance of control and serendipity. \nIngrid Restemayer is a printmaker and fiber artist. Her work has a hint of storytelling with the inclusion of dry-point intaglio images as pseudo-illustrations when paired with shapes formed from hand-embroidery. Restemayer is interested in sustainable tactics in art creation. She uses discarded plastics for her printing plates. While printmaking is a form of mechanization\, she enhances the repetitive imagery with hand-sewing shapes that change the meaning of the overall image. \nPatty Scott works solely on paper. Part of an international community of urban sketchers\, her background in printmaking includes lithography\, etching\, monoprint and linocuts. Her current linocut images convey tension and feelings of confinement. Scott’s de-emphasis of line has her relying on large areas of flat color. She enacts a type of anthropomorphizing of the abstract. \nDean Trisko makes abstract art—drawings\, paintings\, and prints. Abstraction allows his pursuit of beauty without demanding narrative or specific reference. Trisko is often inspired by landscapes – observed then reduced\, exaggerated and edited until most representation is gone. Intaglio print methods spark ideas by allowing Trisko to rearrange imagery and free him to try different ways of printing plates. \nPermutations is a chance to see new work by accomplished artists who share a medium that\, in itself\, has several possible variations. \nMay 23 – June 29\, 2024 \nOpening Reception|\nSaturday\, May 25  3:00 – 6:00 pm \nFree and open to the public \n  \nArtist’s Talk \nA panel discussion featuring all five artists will be held in the gallery in June. SUMMARY:Fulton Brewing Company Block Event
DESCRIPTION:Working in collaboration with local non-profit organization Free Bikes 4 Kids\, we are presenting a block event to celebrate their fundraising efforts through a cycling ride called The Free Bike. This ride\, featuring up to 1000 riders\, is helping to move their efforts to provide free bicycles and cycling services to underrepresented children in our state.\nWe are excited to continue our partnership with this organization and offer a celebration of rider accomplishments – some riding 100 miles that day – as well as promote their fundraiser and support their contributions to the community.\nOur Block Event will be taking place on 6th Ave\, outside our taproom\, expanding our premise and offering a great outdoor experience downtown from 11am to 7pm. We will be serving our brewed products alongside our Taproom Kitchen’s fantastic grilled burgers\, chicken and salads. The Block Party will offer free music from local musicians and DJs\, host local vendors and organizations\, and provide a family friendly atmosphere both inside the taproom and outside along 6th.\nAs a long standing company within the downtown community\, we are excited to be able to host our first large outdoor event since 2019. We believe in building back our downtown and know that offering people engaging and safe events and experiences here can help bring\npeople back to Minneapolis.
