DESCRIPTION:Author Rudi Hargesheimer will present his book\, Superior Hiking Trail Story\, The Trek Continues\, beginning at 6pm. \nRudi Hargesheimer follows his passion for adventure\, history\, and the North Shore of Lake Superior in telling the tale of how the Superior Hiking Trail grew from nothing at all in 1986 to a 300-mile long nationally renowned trail today. His experience as a past Superior Hiking Trail Association board member and President gives him an inside look at the triumphs and frustrations inherent in building and maintaining a trail utilizing thousands of volunteers. Award-winning photos and hiker “sentiments from the heart” helped the 2020 Superior Hiking Trail Story sell over 2\,500 copies. An updated variant\, The Superior Hiking Trail Story\, The Trek Continues\, was published in 2023.

DESCRIPTION:Beth Bergman Closing Reception: Saturday\, January 3\, 2026\, 2 – 5 pm \nForm+Content Gallery is pleased to present “Awkward Moments”\, Beth Bergman’s second exhibit at Form+Content Gallery.  It includes paintings made in 2024-2025.  The works are acrylic on Thai Mulberry paper collaged to basswood panels.  The abstract images explore new ideas of the color palette\, the relationship of shapes and spaces\, and traditional approaches to composition.  One series of paintings explores ideas of cocooning\, nesting\, solitude.  Newer works explore “Awkward Moments” in color\, composition and shapes. \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nBETH BERGMAN grew up in Chicago.  She traveled to St. Paul\, Minnesota\, to study studio arts at Macalester College.  In 1976\, she was a founding member of the WARM Gallery\,  A Feminist Art Collective\, in Minneapolis.  In 1984\, Bergman purchased Wet Paint\, an art supply store in St. Paul that grew to an internationally known business in the 33 years of her tenure.  In 2017\, Bergman sold her business to two employees and started a studio art practice again.  In 2022\, she joined Form+Content Gallery in Minneapolis.

Some of the styles of quilts you will see are Round Robin\, Row by Row\, Medallion\, One Block Wonders\, Block Exchanges\, Farmer’s Wife\, a variety of 1800’s reproduction quilts\, and “mom’s quilts’ made by two sisters as a tribute to their mother. \nThey are featuring twelve quilts made to support Avivo Village\, an indoor community of 100 tiny homes that provides shelter and services to people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. The Avivo quilts on the first floor are for sale.  All money raised will go entirely to Avivo Village. \nServices at Avivo Village are designed with the goal of moving people into permanent housing and taking the next steps toward their well-being.  Avivo Village is located at 1251 North Washington in Minneapolis. The TOGS quilt group is one of several quilting groups that make quilts for the residents to offer them comfort and warmth.  The quilt is theirs to keep and take with them when they leave the Village. SUMMARY:Modist Brewing Fundraiser for One of Their Own
DESCRIPTION:From Modist Brewing: \nA few weeks ago\, our beloved beertender\, DJ\, and resident Pokémon aficionado\, Deekz\, unfortunately had to undergo major surgery and was later diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. As we all know\, medical bills and loss of the ability to work are two immediate and tangible impacts on people going through cancer treatment. And Deekz may be out for 6 months or more. \nSo in an effort to provide immediate and impactful aid to one of our own\, we will be throwing them a fundraising barnburner on Friday\, February 13\, from 5-11 pm. With some of the best local DJs handpicked by Deekz\, this is a great opportunity to shake that ass while raising money for a member of our community. \nThe details are still evolving as we work with our local partners\, but there will be multiple ways to donate/contribute even if you can’t make it to the event itself. SUMMARY:Jazz Pop-Up Tour: Twin Cities Jazz Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Twin Cities Jazz Pop-Up Tour is a new performance series that extends the energy of the Twin Cities Jazz Festival throughout the year- bringing live jazz into intimate\, unexpected venues across the metro. The first pop-up will take place in the North Loop at Berlin with the Kevin Gamble Quartet. \nFor as long as he can remember\, music has been a part of Kevin Gamble’s life. One of his first experiences with music was playing the piano at his uncle’s church as a kid. Gospel\, along with listening to Jazz\, Funk\, country\, Soul\, and HipHop growing up definitely shaped his musical style as an artist. After years of sharpening his skills on piano and finishing his music education in 2018\, he decided in 2019 to form his fusion group KG4.
