SUMMARY:Girl Scout Night at Minnesota Center for Book Arts
DESCRIPTION:Girl Scouts: Hardcover Journal\nThursday\, April 7\, 6 – 8:45 pm \nBring your troop and join fellow Cadettes in an evening dedicated to Book Arts! The class will start with a tour of MCBA where you will learn about the studios and equipment book artists use. Next we will jump right into creating your very own hardcover journal – you’ll learn about the structure of a book\, as well as various book binding techniques. At the end of class\, we will take a close look at several artists’ books. Participants also will receive a variety of book binding instructions to take home with them to continue exploring book art. This class is limited to 20 participants. Online registration is available for groups of up to four participants; if you would like to register for more than four at one time\, please call The Shop at 612-215-2520 to process your registrations via phone. \nPrivate workshops for your whole troop are are available; please contact Angela Hed Vincent at 612-215-2529 or Stacy Stanley at 612-215-2549 with questions. \nFor Cadettes ages 10-15 working toward the Book Artist badge. DESCRIPTION:Superman\, Wonder Woman\, Batman\, Thor – and YOU! Create a super hero identity for our class super story. Hide your super identity with a mask (book). Wear a super hero cape (book). Build a secret super hero hideaway (book). And keep a list of super powers (book). Shazam! \nJoin Ellen Ferrari for Saturday mornings of family book arts fun. Each workshop starts off with a story and game to warm up your creativity and then dives into a book arts project. Workshops accommodate a range of developmental levels so that adults and children (or) adult/child teams may choose to work together or side-by-side. Each participant receives supplies to use during the workshop\, but may choose to bring one set home if working with his or her partner. Ellen will provide older children with suggestions for extending their learning. For families with children ages 2 and up. \nAdult/child pair: $30 ($27 members) + $6 supply fee; additional participants (adult or child): $15 ($13.50 members) + $3 supply fee.
