The show highlights various media\, including oil\, paper\, wood sculpture\, ceramics\, photography\, mixed media\, and textiles. \nThe exhibition runs from Saturday\, May 9th\, through Saturday\, June 6th. Our gallery hours are: Thursdays + Fridays 11:30 AM – 3 PM and Saturdays 12 PM – 4 PM. DESCRIPTION:‘YOU AM I’ \nStep into this lively and colorful Utopia where class\, race\, sexuality\, age\, abilities\, belief systems and gender dance in all their beauty and complexities to a rhythmic beat of respect\, tolerance and understanding. \nIntermingled\, intertwined\, interfacing. In an age where we seek ideological purity\, ‘You Am I’ examines how each of these facets of our identity can coexist in analogous ambiguity. How are these multiplicities embraced? Is there a singular thread that weaves across the identity landscape: binding\, repairing? Is there a rise of fantastical individualism? Or does identity melt into a pool of punctuated homogeny? As the dance progresses\, do we forget to notice? DESCRIPTION:***** TRIO “JAZZ 404” WILL BE PERFORMING FROM 6-8PM*****\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Veronique Wantz Gallery is thrilled to bring you “CALL & RESPONSE” a solo show featuring works by local Minneapolis artist Jack Dale. \nPlease join us for an evening of fine art and conversation while enjoying his intuitive mark making and works of abstract expressionism. \nJack Dale\, an ex-hockey Olympian\, began by painting landscapes. 13 years ago\, he decided to change direction and hasn’t looked back since. \nInfluenced by many well-known abstract expressionist artists such as Twombly\, Diebenkorn\, De Kooning\, and Pollock to name a few; Dale’s works can be bold in organic form and also immersively detailed with a maze of marks intertwining on the canvas. \nWhether you attribute some pieces with an air of complexity and intelligence and others being more playful and lively\, they all start from a place of spontaneity and intuition. Without any preconceived ideas\, paint is applied to the canvas and from there on it is a series of brush strokes\, scrapes\, rollers\, smears\, layers and color combinations until the piece is completed. \nScrub\, scrape\, smudge\, repeat. \nWe look forward to sharing these incredible works with you!
