Finnegans Brewery Moving To North Loop, Sharing Space With Fulton
The craft brewery that coined the phrase, “Drink Like You Care,” is about to move its taproom and “barstool philanthropy” to the North Loop, according to a news release.
Finnegans will begin producing its Irish-inspired brews at Fulton’s production facility in NE Minneapolis and share taproom space in the North Loop at 414 6th Avenue North. The Finnegans Irish Amber, Dead Irish Poet Stout and others will share the beer taps here with Fulton’s Lonely Blonde, Sweet Child of Vine and other favorites.
Finnegans will also bring its popular St. Patrick’s Day party here next Spring.
Finnegans, like Fulton, was a pioneer in the Minneapolis craft brewing scene. It was founded in 2000 on the idea that profits from beer sales could be used to help the less fortunate, specifically by helping stock food shelves with fresh produce from local growers.
It opened a large production facility and taproom on 5th Avenue South downtown in 2018. But with the drop in foot traffic over there since the pandemic, owner Jacquie Berglund was looking for alternatives.
She met with Fulton’s CEO, Ryan Petz, and what was born from their conversations was a new “residency” arrangement.
“There’s a brand fit there,” Petz told the Star Tribune. “We’re saying it’s the duo you didn’t know you needed.”
Finnegans will close its taproom on 5th Avenue South at the end of next month. By early fall, its beers will be available for sale or to-go at the North Loop taproom.
