Fiorentino, James John passed away at Catholic Elder Care in Minneapolis on September 30, 2017. He was 94 years old. James was born on December 15, 1922 to his parents Ferdinando and Maria Fiorentino in Minneapolis. He was married to Winifred Beck on February 15, 1958 until she passed away on March 29, 1992. In 1946, James and his brothers, Antonio and Orlando, founded Custom Door Sales, Inc. where he served as President until he retired in 1990. Later in life he founded the James J. Fiorentino Foundation, located in the North Loop of Minneapolis. The Foundation maintains his collection of Black Forest cuckoo clocks, agates, and other antiques and collectible items that he enjoyed repairing and collecting throughout his life. His collection will continue to be open to the public for free tours for future generations to enjoy. It was his wish to leave the collection as his legacy for future generations. James is survived by his only child, his daughter, Maria (Mary) of Golden Valley; and his nephew, Fred Fiorentino, and his wife, Kathy, of St. Michael. James also leaves behind his great and great-great nephews and nieces in Minnesota and California. He is preceded in death by his wife Winifred and his brothers Antonio, Orlando, and Frank Fiorentino. Funeral services will be held at the Basilica of St. Mary’s on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. Following the services, James will be buried at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery and reunited with his loving wife Winifred. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mr. Fiorentino’s life.
