Bring Your Mask And Join Your Neighbors On Saturday
While Netflix may have provided moments of cinematic escape during this period of social distancing, it can’t match the experience of watching a movie together with your friends and neighbors. So the North Loop Neighborhood Association is taking advantage of the large open plaza at Target Field Station to host a socially-distanced outdoor movie night on Saturday, August 22nd.
On the large video board on the plaza, we’ll be showing the critically-acclaimed film, A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, starring Tom Hanks, starting at 7:00 PM.
There’s no admission charge, but we’re urging everyone to bring a mask and maintain a safe distance away from others.
“There’s a lot of room at the Target Field Station theater,” said Scott Woller, North Loop Neighborhood Association board member. “There’s room to spread out on the grass, even to the cement. You can put your lawn chair, folding chair, dining room chair. Bring it over, spread out and make yourself at home.”
Besides providing a communal event for the neighborhood, Woller said it’s also nice to share the story of a positive role model like Fred Rogers. “A moment to showcase someone who is generous and thoughtful. What a great thing to celebrate as a neighborhood,” he said.
In past movie nights hosted by the NLNA, we’ve provided popcorn, hot chocolate and other refreshments. But this year, because of the pandemic, we can’t have people lining up in one spot, so we’re urging everyone to bring their own.
In case of rain, we’ll reschedule the event to August 29th at 7:00 pm.
