Delta Sky Magazine To Include North Loop In New Profile Of MN
UPDATE 3/30 In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, Delta has officially shuttered Delta Sky magazine and the staff members have been laid off, so this planned feature will not happen. We appreciate their interest in letting a global audience know about the North Loop and we wish them the best.
In the heart of summer travel season this year, Delta Airlines will be showcasing Minnesota to a captive audience of more than six million travelers.
The July 2020 edition of Delta Sky Magazine, tucked into the seat pockets on every flight, will have a 20-40 page insert highlighting the places and events that make people want to live, work and play in Minnesota—and that list will include the North Loop.
The magazine’s Profile Publisher, Marsha Hedlund, spoke to the North Loop Neighborhood Association board in February, saying that six or seven Minnesota-based writers will be profiling the state’s recreational, cultural and tourism opportunities from a business perspective. The timing is based, in part, on the fact that the 3M Open will attract tens of thousands of travelers to the Twin Cities in July, and many of them will be looking for things to do when they’re not watching golf.
Several North Loop retailers are talking with Hedlund about advertising in the July issue. And she says there will definitely be editorial content about the neighborhood as well.
“Whenever we come into a market, we’re looking at growing and emerging areas that are engaging travelers,” she said. “Our readers spend a lot of money, they’re ambitious, they’re socially active and they’re loyal to the Delta brand, so if Delta says this is a cool, funky, happening place to go, that’s where they want to go. The North Loop is right in the wheelhouse of our customer base of travelers.”
Delta Sky Magazine has a monthly readership of 6.2 million people according to BPA Worldwide, which audits magazine readership. It featured this Minnesota spread in its July 2019 edition.
Hedlund said the insert will include features on popular day trip destinations outside the metro as well.
