Student Final Presentations: What the HERC?

Join University of Minnesota Professor Fernando Burga as his Masters of Urban Planning students present their final ideas for the HERC (Hennepin Energy Recovery Center) property, commonly referred to as the garbage burner site.

Professor Burga is a North Loop resident who realized the future of the garbage burner site was a good learning opportunity for his students, so he assigned them the task of re-imagining what the site could be when, or if, the garbage burner closes.  You can read about the students’ ideas from our March 2025 story.

Students are eager for feedback, so bring your friends and enjoy free coffee and bagels!

Presentations will take place in the FRGMNT Coffee/Nordic lobby. On-street parking is available, or in the public parking garage at 728 N. 3rd St.
