North Loop’s First Dispensary Now Selling Legal Cannabis

After a long wait, the owners of SweetLeaves finally have a supply of legal cannabis–the actual plants–to sell at their North Loop shop. And it’s just in time for Green Wednesday, which has become a cannabis industry holiday on the day before Thanksgiving.

“If you’re new to cannabis, our expert bud tenders can help facilitate and find the best product for you,” said owner Adam Hoffman, “or if you’re a veteran, we have all the different types of cannabis that you may be looking for.”

They’ve been open for 18 months at 9th and Washington, selling hemp-based gummies, drinks and CBD products as well as hosting parties while lining up suppliers and waiting for the state to issue a license to sell marijuana to adults.

They actually received a small shipment earlier this month and let some of their loyal customers know about it. Their supply sold out in one weekend. But now, they’re fully stocked and opening sales to the general public.

Hoffman said this dispensary will provide a safer alternative to buyers in the Twin Cities.

“I think the big differentiator is this is safe, legal cannabis,” he said. “Buying it off the street, you don’t know what you’re getting, right? This product is tested, has standards it needs to meet and it can’t be laced with any street drugs like fentanyl. That’s been a huge problem on the street.”

Soon, SweetLeaves plans to announce a drive-up option for those who purchase in advance online.
