Parks Department Delivers New Chairs To Third Street Park
Just three years ago, it was a little-used block of asphalt. But little by little, a 25,000 square foot piece of property along North 3rd Street is being transformed into a welcoming park.
The Minneapolis Park Board purchased the property in 2021. The first phase of the transformation involved ripping up the parking lot and replacing it with sod along with a few small trees around the perimeter.
This month, they delivered 20 new chairs (with phone holders in the arm rests) so visitors will have a place to sit and relax.
But much bigger changes are coming next year, according to David Crary, board member with the North Loop Neighborhood Association.
He said the park board is gathering ideas and coming up with a design this year that will be implemented next year. And they’d like to hear from the community.
What would you like to see in the park? We invite you to submit your ideas on our Instagram and Facebook pages.
You’re also welcome to attend the monthly meetings of our Parks+Public Art Committee.
