Two Historic North Loop Buildings Up For Sale

Developer/restaurateur John Rimarcik was legendary in the North Loop for the number of neglected and rundown historic buildings he purchased and brought back to life here, starting in the 1980s.

Since his death in late 2023, his family has been considering what to do with the sizable real estate portfolio he left behind. Now, two of the family’s Minneapolis properties are for sale.

Colliers Real Estate has the listings for 111 North Washington (which is currently home to Anytime Fitness) and 119 North Washington (leased by Public Domain and Vern’s Tiki Bar).

This development was first reported by the Minneapolis/St Paul Business Journal. In the article, it quoted a statement from the Rimarcik family: “We believe these buildings have incredible potential, and we hope to see new owners who share our vision of keeping the North Loop distinctive—supporting local concepts, preserving its historic charm, and maintaining the character that makes the neighborhood a destination,” it read.

The building at 111 Washington has been here since 1892, while the one at 119 Washington was built in the early 1900s. You can read about its long history as a saloon and restaurant in our Historic North Loop section.
