Making It Easier To Keep The North Loop Beautiful
With the welcome return of more visitors to North Loop restaurants, bars and shops, we’re also seeing a noticeable increase in litter. While the North Loop Neighborhood Association continues to organize cleanup days once or twice a month, we’re also now introducing two more initiatives to keep our streets clean.
Bags and gloves are now available six days a week to anyone who wants to step up and clear away the trash in their area. They’re free to take during regular business hours at Corner Coffee, 514 North 3rd Street (open Monday-Saturday).
The NLNA is also working to get 10 to 12 more trash cans along Washington Avenue, where most of the litter shows up, but we need businesses and building owners willing to sponsor them and make sure they’re emptied when full.
“Our neighborhood effort in removing litter accomplishes two important goals,” said Tim Bildsoe, NLNA president, “bringing people out to meet their neighbors and giving residents a sense of ownership in the community.”
