Stay in the Loop

Now Showing: DisPlace: A North Loop Fantasy Quest

North Loop audiences are getting a dramatic lesson in housing justice this weekend from people who have firsthand experience with homelessness.

DisPlace: A North Loop Fantasy Quest is a brand new play from the zAmya Theater Project, showing through March 16th at the Luminary Arts Center at 700 North 1st Street.

It’s a collaboration between zAmya, Avivo and the North Loop Neighborhood Association.

In the show, which was inspired by high-energy role-playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons, North Loop condo residents and Avivo Village emergency shelter guests join together on an epic fantasy quest for housing justice in Minneapolis.

The play was written by Elle Thoni and directed by Harry Waters, Junior.

It includes elaborate costumes, props–and even some puppets.

Our thanks to photographer Nic Larson from Profeshie for getting us these shots of the opening preview night.

The remaining shows are March 14th & 15th at 7pm and a matinee March 16th at 2:00. Tickets are being sold on a sliding scale of $0-40.
