Stay in the Loop

Time To Get That Covid Hair Cut

Bushy-haired clients who’ve gone more than two months without a cut, style or coloring because of COVID-19 restrictions are busy making appointments at their favorite salons again. And as they return, they’re noticing big changes.

Brian Graham Salon

Only a quarter of the chairs are filled because the state is mandating that they operate at 25% capacity. Both clients and stylists are required to wear masks, new plexiglass partitions are in place at checkout counters and between stations. Anyone with a fever is turned away. Stations are cleaned and disinfected between uses. And salons are staggering appointment times to avoid congestion at the entrances. (This is not a complete list. Please check your salon’s website for details).

Among the North Loop salons opening this week: Brian Graham, Haus, Alibi, Urban Village and Floyd’s 99 Barbers. Marty’s, inside MartinPatrick3, has not announced when it will reopen. For brow treatments, Glam Garage has also reopened.

Urban Village

Urban Village Salonspa is new to the North Loop. It’s in the space formerly occupied by Kai Salon. Four co-owners agreed to take over Kai’s lease starting March 1st—and that ended up being just as COVID was becoming a serious health issue.

Since everything has been on hold, they haven’t been able to hire stylists but they are now actively recruiting on their website, while two stylists from their St. Paul location work in the North Loop salon temporarily.
