Billy Sushi Putting 2020 On Ice

As this dreadful year comes to an end, leave it to Billy Tserenbat to come up with a friendly way to celebrate.

The ever-positive restaurateur now has a giant ice throne and table outside his place, Billy Sushi, for people to enjoy and pose for photos over the next few days.

“2020 was a crazy year, especially in the restaurant industry. Everyone cried, right?” he said. “We need to kick it out with a bang, right? Get rid of the bad mojo in an awesome way.”

Billy hasn’t been able to have a full house since his new restaurant opened this spring. “We open in the middle of a pandemic and we’ve been doing our ‘soft opening’ the last six months,” he said with a laugh. “So someday hopefully we can have our grand opening!”

Just a week ago, he was talking with a friend, Erik Eastman, who’s an ice sculptor, and the two of them came up with the plan for a throne with a big heart on the back.

“Hopefully people will enjoy themselves and feel like a king or a queen,” Billy said.
