Stay in the Loop

Crew From Ireland Getting New Pub Ready For June Opening

Determined to bring the most authentic version of an Irish pub to North Loop, Peter Killen had virtually everything inside his new Killen’s Irish Pub crafted and shipped in from Ireland–from the new bar to all the tables, chairs, booths, stained glass and tile.

All of it arrived in shipping containers at the start of this month, along with the Irish workers who built it, for a non-stop two-week installation period. You can see how it’s all shaping up in the video above.

“We’re so excited to get everything unwrapped and cleaned up and polished,” Killen said, adding that he hopes to be open by mid-June.

“I’ve got 130 seats in the pub itself, 32 seats around the bar and I’ll have about 70 seats on the patio,” he said.

The new pub will be at the corner of 6th Avenue North and North 4th Street, where First Draft used to be. The bar is virtually unrecognizable–inside and out–from the First Draft Days.

“I wanted to kind of put my stamp on the corner,” he said, “and I think I did.”

Killen has a few weeks now to assemble a large staff before his opening. For those interested in applying for a job, you can reach out via the Killen’s website.
