McCormick Counseling is a private, mindfulness-based psychotherapy practice located here in the North Loop and in Edina offering both in-person and telehealth sessions. As both a nurse and a psychotherapist, I view individuals from a whole person perspective, appreciating that mind impacts body and body affects mind. In addition, I also come with deep experience meditation, having practiced many different forms over four decades. If interested, I help clients develop their own version of a meditation practice. Combining all three elements, my practice is one that can be viewed as having an authentic Mind/Body/Spirit approach.
My training, personal and professional experiences lend themselves to work with clients experiencing some sort of life transition. Examples are: a loss of a significant person, personal chronic or new medical diagnosis, divorce, job loss or retirement, empty-nest, relationship challenges. I also work with individuals with symptoms of anxiety or sadness or depression not directly related to any of these life experiences. I am a long-term cancer survivor; have experienced divorce, the loss of a child, and the loss of many of my siblings. While no two people experience life events in the same way, my experiences have allowed me to have deep empathy for my clients. I work with individual adult clients. I do not work with couples or with individuals diagnosed with serious or significant mental illness but can direct you to other resources that would better align with your needs.
I am an out of network provider and am not a member of any insurance panels. Clients however, can be reimbursed by their insurance carrier at their stated out of network rate. I am not allowed to work with those with Medicaid under any circumstances (eg, cash pay). Unfortunately, Medicare will not provide any reimbursement for services offered by an out of network provider. However, unlike Medicaid clients, I can accept Medicare clients who are open to paying out of pocket for my services. An introductory call is offered free of charge.
