THE MODERN REP is a classics company for today. Reimagining the canon for a contemporary audience, THE MODERN REP believes that classic texts are not relics to be preserved, but living works meant to be interrogated, disrupted, and brought vividly into the present moment. Our productions strip away tradition, creating bold, intimate experiences that foreground language, actor, and audience. We stage classics with a focus on immediacy, clarity, and a sense of shared event. At THE MODERN REP, the past is not distant; it is urgent, messy, and alive. By engaging directly with these texts through a modern lens, we aim to uncover what still resonates, what challenges us, and what demands to be reexamined now.
