Community Workshops: Data Center+Multi-Use Project
The NLNA is partnering with the Minnesota Design Center (MDC) to host four initial community workshops seeking input on the proposed data center + multi-use development for the former Star Tribune building and surrounding acres.
The MDC is a research, teaching and outreach institution housed in the University of Minnesota’s College of Design. MDC specializes in studying and designing development opportunities that lie in the “social, technological, environmental and economic disruptions of our time.” A list of past MDC projects can be found here.
The four workshops will be facilitated by urban planners, architects, designers, landscape architects, as well as students and support staff. Facilitators with this expertise have the ability to organize community input into a report for residents, stakeholders and the developers of the site, who have indicated their interest in MDC’s findings, especially as it concerns the multi-use portion of their proposal. This will be the first series of workshops organized by the MDC over the following year.
Those wishing to attend and offer input do not need to attend all four workshops, but are welcome to do so. Input from the community will be organized into a final presentation that will be shared with the neighborhood on Saturday afternoon at Fulton Taproom.

- Note: The August 19 NLNA Planning+Zoning Committee meeting will be devoted to the workshop; there will be no other agenda items besides this project.
