Fast Casual Taqueria Opening Monday, May 3rd
With construction wrapping up inside the new Fuzzy’s Taqueria, co-owner Ed Pittsley has been giving impromptu tours to curious North Loop residents. And one of the biggest reactions has come when they see the prices on the menu board–tacos around $3 or less.
“They’re so excited about something new, something fresh, something affordable,” said Pittsley. “It’s been overwhelming the amount of positive response that it’s gotten.”
Fuzzy’s will have its grand opening Monday, May 3rd, next to Freehouse in the Loose-Wiles building, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week.
And as an opening promotion, Fuzzy’s is offering “free tacos for a year” to the first 25 people in line when they open at 8am on the 3rd.
It will have a full bar with an emphasis on various types of margaritas. The list includes “beeritas” which are margaritas with an upturned bottle of beer (or sparkling wine) in the glass, gradually blending the flavors together.
Fuzzy’s is part of a national chain of taco shops that are usually three to four times the size of the taqueria opening here. With seating for about 20 people inside and another 20 on the front patio, they expect to get a lot of takeout and delivery orders through Uber Eats and DoorDash.
“It’s a fast-casual restaurant but we’re going to cook the food to order,” Pittsley said.
At the outset, Fuzzy’s will be open 8am-10pm Sunday through Thursday and staying open until 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
