Filigree Jewelers Celebrating 10 Years In The North Loop
Ten years ago, Catherine Thies could hardly have imagined the transformation she’d witness in the North Loop–not only becoming an entertainment and dining destination but a burgeoning retail community as well.
She and her husband, Brent, own Filigree Jewelers which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in the neighborhood this week. “It’s been spectacular,” she said. “To watch it grow from one block to now so many blocks, it’s been a miraculous thing.”
Filigree moved into its current location on 2nd Street four years ago after previously having a space inside MartinPatrick3, a block away.
“We specialize in vintage, custom and modern,” Thies said. “And so it’s sort of an eclectic display of 200 years of jewelry-making which is really fun so it draws people in from all different neighborhoods.”
To celebrate the milestone anniversary, Filigree is hosting an event Thursday, September 29th, for customers on their mailing list who’ve received an invitation. They’ve also brought in some eye-popping special pieces from estate and antique wholesalers based in New York, which they’ve been showing off to their 26,000 Instagram followers.
While the event is invitation-only, they’ve decorated the outside of their store with a large floral display for passersby to enjoy.
“We’re going to celebrate the support we’ve received from not only the North Loop community but from the greater Minneapolis area too.”
