Stay in the Loop

Fitness Facility Opening In Spring, Doing Free Classes Beforehand

By next spring a new fitness facility, barre3, should be open on 2nd Avenue in the North Loop. But between now and then, owner Nikki Hedren will be offering free pop-up classes at different spots around the area to get people acquainted with her workouts.

“Barre3 is incredibly community-oriented and very focused on meeting every single person at the door where they’re at,” Hedren said. “So throughout every single class you’re gonna hear instructors give ways to adapt and modify every single posture.”

She’ll lead free Saturday classes outdoors at 9am on September 24th and October 8th at the North Loop park on 3rd Street North next to Viridium Apartments. And she’ll have another free 9am class at Water Works in the Mill District on October 1st.

Barre3 is partnering with another company that’s about to open in the North Loop, Outdoor Voices, to do these outdoor classes and offer a limited number of giveaways for those who arrive early.

Hedren and her husband recently returned home to Minnesota after ten years in Washington, DC, and decided to become North Loop residents.

“We just knew that this was a community that we wanted to live in and be connected to,” she said. “We love how vibrant it is, we like to walk to everything and it just kind of has everything right outside the door.”

She hopes to have her studio ready to go by mid-March. In the meantime, you can keep an eye on her Instagram account for future introductory classes.
