Grand Opening For New Coffee Shop

After many years in Minneapolis coffee shops doing jobs ranging from barista to co-manager, Ben Banse now has a shop to call his own.

FRGMNT had its grand opening this morning in the ground floor lobby area of The Nordic office tower on Washington Avenue. Banse owns the shop along with his partner, Sarah Roehl.

The new brand, created just for The Nordic space, is pronounced Fragment, but the vowels were symbolically left out. “We like the idea of representing breaking apart and doing things the way we see it best,” said Banse, “breaking apart from the norm and doing our thing.”

Banse said he and Roehl have been intentional about partnering with high quality roasters like Monogram from Calgary and Saint Frank of San Francisco whose products have never been offered before in the Twin Cities.

FRGMNT has also partnered with Honey and Rye to provide pastries. “We’re their first-ever partners,” he said, “so it’s kind of cool to have an exclusive offering like that.”

The new shop will be open seven days a week, 6:30-6:00 on weekdays and 8:00-3:00 on weekends.
