Stay in the Loop

Look Around Minneapolis With “Doors Open”

By Mike Binkley, North Loop Neighborhood Association

If you’ve ever walked by a building in Minneapolis and wondered about its history or marveled at its appearance, now may be your chance to get inside and look around.

The first-ever Doors Open Minneapolis, May 18 and 19, will feature about 115 venues across the city offering free public access, including several in the North Loop and other parts of downtown.

It’s a new citywide celebration designed to help visitors appreciate the past, present and future of Minneapolis. One of the North Loop buildings on the list, The Nordic, is taking care of the future part of that equation because it hasn’t even opened yet. This will be the first chance for most people in the neighborhood to peek inside.

Others taking part include Fast Horse, Federal Reserve, Ford Center, Hewing Hotel, Love Your Melon, Target Field, Target Field Station and the TractorWorks building.

The event will run from 10 am to 5 pm each day and no advance registration is required.
