Making Wine In The North Loop
As they prepare for the fall grape harvest in the countryside near Waconia, Aaron and Ashley Schram of Schram Vineyards are also focused on a major urban project—building a winery in the North Loop.
It will likely open late next spring or early summer at 419 Washington Avenue North, but they’ll be ready in November to announce the new winery’s name (it won’t be Schram), along with detailed plans of how it will look.
Using Minnesota grapes, the Schrams plan to produce several varieties of wine in barrels and tanks at their North Loop winery. And they want to demonstrate to local consumers how far Minnesota wines have come.
Besides sales and tastings, they plan to offer informative seminars. “The only thing you’re going to be missing is the vineyard,” said Aaron Schram.
