Stay in the Loop

Mural Artist Turning The Green Into Colorful Outdoor Event Space

With less than two weeks to go before the grand opening block party on June 23rd, the new community event space at North Loop Green, officially known as The Green, is already hosting fitness events and markets. (See the June event calendar here).

And a popular local mural artist, Adam Turman, is adding big, bold splashes of color around the areas where people will soon be grabbing food and drink, listening to music and enjoying a summer of special events.

The Green is a new privately-operated event space from the developers of North Loop Green which features a 14-story glass office tower and a 35-story residential tower that prominently overlooks the left field wall at Target Field.

The one-acre park will feature a walk-up cafe known as The Bassett Hound, lots of seating, a stage for performances and a fenced-in dog run.

Turman’s murals have a distinct Minneapolis/North Loop theme, with images of bikes, dogs, music and the city skyline.

To add even more color at night, red and blue lights are splashed on the underside of the highway viaducts that pass over the Green.

The public is invited to the grand opening block party from noon-5pm on June 23rd, for an afternoon of music, food trucks, the Twins game on a giant screen and giveaway tote bags while they last.
