HPC Design Guidelines for On-Premise Signs and Awnings

The HPC will review and consider adopting an update to the 2003 Minneapolis Heritage Preservation
Commission’s Design Guidelines for On-Premise Signs and Awnings.

The Heritage Preservation Commission will meet on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. in Room 317
City Hall, 350 S 5th St, Minneapolis, MN. Interested parties are invited to attend and be heard. Planning
Department staff will issue a recommendation to the Heritage Preservation Commission. After hearing
from the public, the Heritage Preservation Commission will make a determination based on required
legal findings of fact. Please visit https://www.minneapolismn.gov/meetings/hpc/index.htm for the
agenda with staff reports (web page will be updated by the end of the day Monday prior to the
meeting date).

Commutator LLC Appeal

David Wilson, on behalf of Commutator, LLC, has submitted an appeal of two conditions in the Heritage
Preservation Commission’s May 2, 2023, approval of a Certificate of Appropriateness to amend a
previously approved Certificate of Appropriateness application to modify alterations to the Foundry
Building and demolish more than 60% of the Roe Wolf (Blacksmith) Building at 117-125 1st St N in the
Minneapolis Warehouse Historic District and St. Anthony Falls Historic District.
This matter will receive an additional public hearing before the Business, Inspections, Housing, and Zoning
Committee (BIHZ) of the Minneapolis City Council on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 1:30 p.m., in Room 317 City
Hall, 350 S 5th St. You are invited to attend and be heard.
