New Bar Goes To The Dogs

One week from today, a new entertainment option will officially open for dog owners and their pets, where both will probably leave a little more relaxed and happy than when they arrived.

It’s Unleashed Hounds and Hops, Minnesota’s first indoor/outdoor dog park with a bar and restaurant attached. Its owners are just putting the finishing touches on the facility in the Farmers Market annex off Lyndale Avenue.

Visitors pay an admission fee of $6.99 (two dogs for $10) or get discounted admission by purchasing a 5-time pass or annual membership.

And then while their dogs are burning off energy, they can buy craft beers, wine and food in a separate area that overlooks the play area. They’re allowed to take the food and drinks into the section where the dogs are playing, but dogs are not allowed in the food service area.

Last summer, the founders of Unleashed launched a crowdfunding campaign, hoping to eventually raise $10,000 in donations to get their dream started. The response was overwhelming. They had raised $10,000 by 11 o’clock that first morning, and they ended up just shy of $50,000. Some of the larger donors now have food items named after their pets or portraits of them hanging on the wall.

The park will be open to the public Tuesday – Sunday, with Mondays reserved for special events.
