Stay in the Loop

New Japanese-Italian Restaurant Opens

Just when you think the North Loop has every cuisine covered, along comes Sanjusan restaurant offering a Japanese-Italian menu at 1st Street and 1st Avenue.

It’s on the ground floor, where Kado no Mise used to be. But don’t worry, Kado no Mise is now just one floor up, joining Kaiseki Furukawa and whisky bar Gori Gori Peku on the second level.

Sanjusan (pronounced Sahn-joo-sahn) translates to 33 in Japanese, which is their address: 33 North 1st Avenue.

Their menu features interesting takes on pizza, pasta and skewered chicken (yakitori).

For now, they are seating by reservation only. They hope to have patio tables available soon.
