Stay in the Loop

New Salon Will Go Into Former Industrial Lighting Space

As work progresses on 13 new residential units in the historic red brick building at the corner of 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue, we now know who will take the ground floor retail space where Industrial Lighting operated for 60 years.

Sloane’s Beauty Bar, which has three locations in Edina and Minneapolis, announced on its Instagram account that it’s excited to be expanding to our neighborhood. And besides a salon, Sloane’s will also be opening a new educational space in the building.

“Located in the heart of North Loop, this rustic space will be given new life with the creative direction of the very talented Aaron Wittkamper and Wittkamper Studio,” the post read. “The build out begins in March 2023 and will showcase the building’s history with new, modern flair. In addition to the new salon area, this location, we’re proud to share, will also contain something completely unique. Education and career development are fundamental to our mission, so we have been on the hunt for places that can hold space for beauty professionals and other audiences to grow, learn and share together. Hidden in the basement of this historic building was just the place. Stay tuned in the coming months for more details!
