New Two-Level Bar Bringing Two Different Vibes To North Loop
Your Instagram feed is about to be filled with disco balls and shimmering walls in the next few weeks as social media influencers work their way into Ava, the new two-level bar/lounge/eatery in the North Loop, officially opening June 26th.
The flashy, colorful bar on the lower level–where you’ll find more than 160 disco balls and pulsating lights–will naturally draw the most attention.
The shimmering walls–gold around the bar, pink in the adjacent room–were inspired by the former Uptown hot spot Chino Latino.
But to get to that lower level, guests will first pass through a chic, contemporary lounge on the street level which will be open seven days a week–as opposed to the Thursday-Saturday late-night schedule downstairs.
“(Ground floor) is more like an upscale lounge,” said owner Ben Taheri, “very comfortable and cozy yet stylish and sophisticated. Downstairs is more like a discotheque, more fun, little bit louder, more energy than upstairs.”
On the nights that the lower level is open, the music will start around 10pm and last until 1 or 1:30am. But Taheri intends to have the street-level bar open each day for happy hour.
Ava will also feature a menu of shareable bites from local chef Kamal Mohamed, the man behind several ventures like Nashville Coop Chicken, Stepchld and Parcelle.
Taheri said he expects Ava to attract a more mature crowd than some of the party-centric night spots in downtown Minneapolis.
You’ll find it at 124 3rd Avenue North (between Fairgrounds and Madewell).
