Stay in the Loop

North Loop Comes Through For Homeless Neighbors

On Saturday, March 13th, the North Loop was bustling with people enjoying sun-drenched patios and sidewalks. However, a large amount of activity was centered on Modist Brewing Co. in the early afternoon where the North Loop Neighborhood Association sponsored a donation drive for Avivo Village.

People arrived with all types of essentials that will make Avivo Village residents feel welcomed, comfortable, and safe.

The Service Saturday activity turned out to be an enormous success as dedicated volunteers and community members accepted the seemingly nonstop stream of generous donations. With enough donations to overflow a U-Haul and 6 SUVs, the group transported the items from Modist to Avivo Village.

The generosity of the North Loop Neighborhood was simply incredible; far greater than we could have imagined,” said Emily Bastian of Avivo, the nonprofit behind Avivo Village. “Avivo Village seeks to create a radical welcome for all of our guests, and the North Loop has stepped up, welcoming Avivo Village to your community with a truly radical welcome! We look forward to continuing to grow in partnership and community.”

A massive thank you to everyone who participated and donated!  Learn more about Avivo Village here or attend the informational session on March 15th to learn more.
