Stay in the Loop

Parkway And Trails Closed For Two Weeks

West River Parkway between James Rice Park in the North Loop and the Stone Arch Bridge is scheduled to be closed for two weeks between Sunday, April 24th and Sunday, May 8th, according to the Minneapolis Park and Rec Board’s website.

It’s to accommodate heavy machinery being used in the $130 million reconstruction of the 3rd Avenue Bridge which is more than a century old.

This affects not only drivers but also pedestrians and cyclists on the nearby trails. The trails, though, will be back open on weekends when construction work is halted.

Work on the bridge is scheduled to be complete in 2023.
