Stay in the Loop

Now Open: Sloane’s Beauty Bar And MedSpa

In opening her fourth location of Sloane’s Beauty Bar, owner Erin Zosel knew she wanted to be in the North Loop. And once she found the right building, she knew it would be unlike any of her other salons.

“Well, I mean it’s the hottest neighborhood anywhere,” she said. “It’s where everybody is coming to.”

Her new salon just opened in the old Minnesota Iron Store building (built in 1896) at the corner of North 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue North.

The historic limestone and brick–especially downstairs in the new skin studio–add an extra level of warmth and charm.

“This is the first one we’ve ever done an aesthetic lounge or skin studio, we’ve only focused on hair,” she said. “I never really knew if I wanted to move into this realm until I actually walked into this space. And then when I walked downstairs, I was just like <gasp>. I mean it’s magical down there.”

Zosel is a busy woman, owning four salons as well as being a real estate agent, podcaster and mother to two teenagers.

“It’s all the things that I love,” she said. “Like that saying, ‘if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.’ It is work but it comes really naturally because I love it so much.”

The transformation of this building has been in the works for more than a year, and there are still a few more enhancements to come, but Zosel was eager to get the salon, lounge and skin studio open.

“The interesting thing about yesterday (opening day) is that people were not wanting to leave after their appointments. That was the goal. to stay there, relax and enjoy the space.”
