North Loop Green Officially Open, Block Party This Sunday
As he prepared to help cut the ceremonial ribbon officially opening North Loop Green, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey praised the “people who had the guts to run with a gigantic vision.”
Developed by Hines and designed by ESG Architecture, it’s a 34-story residential tower and 14-story office building wedged between Target Field, a highway overpass and railroad tracks on what used to be a surface parking lot.
And just outside the complex is a one-acre park, The Green, that the developers are sharing with the community, hosting more than 100 events this summer including a large block party this Sunday, June 23rd from noon to 5pm.
A walk-up cafe/bar, Bassett Hound, is set to open this week at The Green.
“This is something that we should all be proud of,” Mayor Frey said. “It’s a cornucopia of urban planning that you all have pushed for so beautifully.”
“In my 35+ years in this business, this is by far the most challenging and complex real estate project that I’ve been involved with,” said Bob Pfefferle, managing director of Hines.

Construction is just beginning on two restaurants from chef Brian Ingram that will join the complex this fall, Hope Breakfast Bar and Salt and Flour.
