Outpouring Of Donations For Hurting Communities
For a second straight day, the North Loop Neighborhood Association hosted a donation drive for communities in north Minneapolis and south Minneapolis whose neighborhood stores have been destroyed. Within the first half hour, we had already received more donations of supplies than our entire two-hour drive on Saturday. And the donors just kept coming.
We packed more than 20 vehicles and started hearing from our drivers that collection sites were overwhelmed by the generosity from around the metro and were starting to turn away more deliveries. We found alternate sites including a senior home in north Minneapolis to take the rest of the donations.
Thanks everyone for your generosity. We’ll be assessing what other needs we, as a community, can meet in the coming days.
