Stay in the Loop

Donation Drive For Northside Packs Many Vehicles

With neighborhood stores destroyed in north Minneapolis and transportation limited by the shutdown of Metro Transit through the weekend, there are big, immediate needs for residents in the community.

The North Loop Neighborhood Association organized a donation drive late Saturday morning, announcing on social media that it would take place from 1:00-3:00 at the North Loop playground. And despite the short notice, dozens of people turned out, dropping off enough diapers, wipes, soap, paper towels, food and other supplies to pack eight vehicles.

We drove it to the community’s drop-off location near Broadway Avenue and it was heartwarming to see the long lines of drivers from throughout the metro coming forward with donations of their own.

We expect to organize other events to help communities affected by the recent unrest. We will wait to see where we can be of greatest help.
