Stay in the Loop

Bringing Restaurants and Taprooms Together? Biz-Ingo!

As our period of social distancing drags on and several restaurants do what they can to stay afloat, one owner had an idea to bring restaurants and taprooms together with their customers for a live, interactive virtual game night.

Here’s how “Isolation Biz-Ingo” will work: several North Loop restaurants and taprooms offering take-out and delivery will have the game cards. Those who visit them on Saturday will receive the cards and then join a Facebook Live event at 7:30 pm where a host will draw numbers. A winner will type BIZ-INGO into the comment section, post a photo to have their card verified, and then receive a gift card from participating restaurants and taprooms. The plan is to have four rounds of the game each night.

It’s the idea of Megan Gaffney, owner of MidNord Empanadas and Churros in the Graze food hall, and she’s been busy lining up businesses to launch it this weekend. They include the restaurants at Graze (MidNord, Carbon Pit Beef, GastroTruck, Lu’s Sandwiches), Smack Shack, The Freehouse, ONE Fermentary, Inbound Brewco, Number 12 Cider, Modist Brewing, Darby’s, Black Sheep Pizza, NOLO’s Kitchen and Utepils Brewing).

“As restaurant and gathering space owners, we miss the interaction we get with customers each day,” she said. “Isolation Biz-Ingo felt like a great way to bring our neighbors and community together virtually for a meal, drink and family friendly game night.”

If it goes well, Gaffney would like to see the game become a recurring feature and spread into other parts of Minneapolis. She will announce all the participants and any future dates online on the Facebook event page.
