Stay in the Loop

Cheering For HealthCare Workers

With a few claps of thunder joining in, several North Loop residents stood on their balconies in the rain Saturday night for the first night of what they hope will be two weeks of cheering for healthcare workers during the ‘stay at home’ period.

Neighbors Kathleen Frey and Jody Schepers were inspired to organize this by seeing news reports about similar events in cities around the world. Each night at 7:00 PM, they hope people around the city will do this to show appreciation for healthcare workers who are on the front lines of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Three TV stations, WCCO, KARE and KSTP, sent photographers to record the first night of cheering, while KMSP covered it on Sunday night when even more people were out. The stay at home order is in effect through April 10.
