Stay in the Loop

Football + Bowling = Fowling Warehouse, Now Open!

Minnesota’s first “fowling” alley is officially open in the North Loop!

Fowling (rhymes with bowling) is a combination of football and bowling, with two teams behind two sets of bowling pins. Teams take turns throwing footballs at the other set of pins, until one team knocks all the other team’s pins down. Fowling Warehouse boasts 21 lanes in its massive 32,000 square-foot space.

Players try to knock down the other team’s pins with a football.

“Our customers remember hearing the bowling pin crack as a kid at a birthday party. And who hasn’t thrown a football? So just putting those two together, it just has a wide variety of appeal to a lot of different people,” said Andrew Cunningham, one of Fowling’s North Loop owners.

In addition to the fowling lanes, there’s also an arcade area with pinball machines, grab-claw machines, foosball and pool tables. For patrons who prefer to watch sports instead of play, there are 15 TVs throughout the venue.

The arcade area features foosball, Jenga and other games.

All that activity will make guests hungry and thirsty, so Fowling has a kitchen and full bar. Cunningham said it was important to support local vendors for the bar menu. “We’ve crafted our cocktail list with Earl Giles, so they’re supporting us with our bar program. We’re also working with Johnson Brothers, headquartered here.  And our beers are from local breweries; I think the furthest one away is in Duluth.” The cocktail menu gives a nod to Minnesota sports with drinks called “Miracle on Ice” and “Maroon Madness.”

The food menu will be “pizza forward” for the time being, as Cunningham explained one of their ovens was damaged in shipping. “We’ll try to expand our menu over time.”

Fowling Warehouse’s event space is ideal for corporate and team-building events, as well as large parties and celebrations. Presentations can be projected onto the 16′ x 9′ video wall. “While you’re having your meeting, you can also get out on the lanes and have some fun,” said Cunningham.

The event space can be tailored to party’s needs by adding a stage and projecting presentations onto the video wall.

Fowling Warehouse is located near the Minneapolis Farmers Market, at 401 Royalston Avenue. You can follow them on Instagram for updates.
