New Spot For Mexican Food In The North Loop

Starting Tuesday, July 14, Cobble Social House (next to D.NOLO) will have an all-new food service, with six different types of tacos, ceviche, burritos, elote street corn and other Mexican specialties.

Owner Joe Clark said he’s partnering with an established restaurant group that’s forming a new venture, Mr. Taco, to bring in the new foods each day. “I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with my kitchen for a while,” he said. “I had three months to sit and think about it (during the shutdown) and I think this will be a good collaboration.”

Since Cobble only has a prep kitchen, it had a limited food menu before, featuring items like a hummus board or charcuterie board. But Clark’s new partners will prepare the food off-site and bring it in daily where it will be kept warm in the kitchen. And for the first week or two, while they finalize licensing, it will be served from a food truck.

Clark said he landed on Mexican food because of its near universal appeal. “Everybody loves Mexican,” he said. “Everyone loves tacos.”

Since reopening last month, Cobble has created a makeshift patio space in the loading dock area at the side of the building for those who’d prefer to be in an open air setting. Cobble is open Tuesdays-Thursdays 6:00 pm-midnight and Fridays & Saturdays 6:00 pm-1:00am.
