New Lotto-Focused Shop Getting Boost From $1.1B Jackpot

Nothing like a $1.1 billion MegaMillions jackpot to draw new customers into your new lotto-focused store. That’s what’s happening at Players Cafe which opened in mid-December on 2nd Street North where Mulberry’s Dry Cleaners used to be.

It’s a convenience store concept chain affiliated with lotto.com. There are five other Players Cafes across the country; this is the first for Minnesota.

“Lottery is our driving force but we also just want to offer a comfortable spot to hang out, scratch your tickets.” said store manager Kyle Adams. “If you have work to do, we have a couch, we have a scratch bar, places where you can sit and kind of relax and get your work done.”

The store also offers everything from dog treats and human snacks to toilet paper and gift bags. The company’s website says it’s designed to “educate a digitally savvy generation on lottery play and the philanthropic causes associated with each state’s lottery.”

Adams said the North Loop seemed like the perfect location for Minnesota’s first shop and so far everyone has been “very very friendly. The people who live upstairs in the lofts come down and say hi. I meet all the pets because we’re furry friendly.”

Players Cafe is open Monday-Saturday 10a-5p.
