Stay in the Loop

Old ‘Love Your Melon’ Spot Will Be The New Jaxon Grey

While it may have been nice to have an esteemed national brand, Love Your Melon, on a prominent North Loop corner, the space was rarely open to the public. Earlier this year, after the company was sold to a New York-based firm, the signs came down and the remaining beanies were moved out.

Now, we can reveal who’s moving in: the popular menswear shop Jaxon Grey, which was founded in the North Loop in 2019. And it will be open seven days a week.

“We’re super excited about it,” said owner Michael Druskin. “We’re working with an awesome design firm. I think it will be a really great experience for the customer.”

To this point, Jaxon Grey has been sharing space with women’s retailers inside D.NOLO, just around the block. The new location will provide a little more space, but Druskin said he’ll likely still have the same amount of merchandise.

“It’s really about how it’s gonna be presented and the experience around the dressing room area,” he said. “I think it will be really elevated from what it is.”

Customers will still be able to park in the same lot and there will be treats for the neighborhood dogs. Druskin said he’s excited about bringing vitality to such a prominent intersection.

“We love being part of the neighborhood,” said Druskin. “I think it’ll be really nice to see it activated all the time.”

Construction inside the shop will begin in May with a tentative opening date of late July/early August.
